After graduating Cum Laude in English and Theatre from Queens College, New York, Peter's debut on Broadway was in Michael Weller's Moon Children , directed by Alan Schneider. He was next seen on Broadway with Dorothy Loudon and Vincent Gardenia in Michael Bennett's Ballroom . He performed with many of the major theatres in New York City including La Mama E.T.C. (as resident actor with the Plexus Co.), the New York Shakespeare Festival, the New Phoenix Rep Company, Playwrights Horizons, and the American Shakespeare Festival in Stratford Conn. Television credits include featured roles on As the World Turns , One Life to Live, The Guiding Light and Ryan's Hope. He has taught acting at universities and professional schools and currently conducts The Craft of The Actor.
During Peter's five year tenure as Producing Artistic Director, Actors' Theatre experienced a remarkable artistic and financial renaissance receiving special community recognition for many of the shows produced during that time. An award winning actor Peter received his MFA in directing as a Donal Harrington Scholar from the University of Montanna.
His production of Mia McCullough’s Cyber Serenade was nominated for a Steinberg Award from the American Critics Association for the best new play produced outside NYC. Peter was also chosen to produce and direct the center piece for the Crater Lake Centennial Celebration Resolutions . Local Acting credits include Atticus Finch in the award-winning To Kill A Mockingbird , R.P. McMurphy in the award-winning One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest , Walter Cole (Teacher) in American Buffalo , Peck in the award- winning How I Learned To Drive , Matt in Tally’s Folly, and Jack in the Weir .
Directing credits include Lennon, The Belle of Amherst, Ah! Wilderness , The Member of The Wedding , The Children’s Hour and Cyber Serenade. His scripts Perchance to Dream and Arlington Road were produced as short films by the Montana Repertory Company and the University of Montana.
He is particularly happy with the extraodinary progress of Oregon Stage Works and extends his heart felt thanks to a productive Board of Directors, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival , and the generous support of so many others.
